Principles: Christ is first. The emphasis is on Him not me. He must increase and we must decrease. Priority one....Is He pleased in what we are doing? If he is not, we are wasting his and our time. The local church and believers (others) with whom and to whom we minister are primary. The highest good is being used of the Lord to serve those in need and draw attention to them and the God we both serve. We (those coming to partner in service) are of great value. But in scriptural terms, the emphasis is focused on others rather than ourselves. Those with whom we partner have a spiritual understanding of God, faith in our heavenly father and dependence on His daily provision that is considerably greater than ours. We will generally learn from them, not teach them in these areas. So many of them literally depend on the application of this verse from the Lord's Prayer, "Give us this day our daily bread." It is critical to understand that when in Juarez, we are in another culture. We can not impose our cultural mind set on our Mexican brothers and sisters, particularly our beliefs of time management and project importance. The highest good is to be used as an extension of God's hands to elevate another life, spiritually or physically. At the personal level this runs the gamut of helping someone with a meal or medical attention, to aiding with the expenses of paying a persons way through seminary. We can not meet all needs. We look for God's direction and respond obediently to those He places in our path. The most effective ministry results are garnered by long term, year round involvement with partner churches and individuals, not one time visits. To see where God is blessing a work or ministry, and then attempt to support that expression of life as God leads. If God is growing it...help water it. Encourage and support others and rejoice in their successes. Fulfillment is not me being lifted up, but rather us contributing to the lifting up of others. I die to self (ego) and I am alive to Christ. In working with a cross section of churches and denominations successful ministry is built on relationship, not through a formal organization. Trusting relationships of a long term nature between multi-cultural and denominational groups breeds great opportunities for ministry. To be a bridge to bring believers from both sides of the border together and to help create sister church relationships. To work through the local church in Mexico, so as to benefit the growth, ministry and community impact of those churches. Only in rare exceptions when no church is present do we operate outside of a local fellowship. To work with the American churches to help them fulfill the calling of Christ to share themselves and their resources with hose in need. There are over 600 scriptures mandating our involvement with the poor and those in need. If it is that important to God, He intends for it to be a high priority to us. God has a plan for the individual lives and ministry impact of our brothers and sisters in Juarez, and for their churches. But without training, supplies and other resources only a partial fulfillment of this call will occur. By aiding in the year round operation of multiple ministries helping to meet these needs, we can play a vital role in allowing individuals to be released to become all they can be in Christ. This same attitude of giving and supporting at the greater church level aids in allowing these churches to fulfill their God given role in their communities.
