NORTHRIDGE CHILDREN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN JUAREZ
Over the last three years,
Northridge has built a classroom, computer room, and
library for the impoverished "Socorro School" in Juarez,
Mexico. Over that same time period White Rock Elementary
School students have raised $36,000 to provide electricity,
bathrooms, a playground, school uniforms, books, computers
and many, many scholarships for the children of the Socorro
school. Just this last month White Rock Elementary School
students raised $11,000 for the Socorro School by getting
people to sponsor them for the amount of books they read!
It is no coincidence that
there are 11 children from Northridge that attend White Rock
Elementary. Over the past three years our Northridge
children along with their parents have been the leaders in
this project. This year Reina Olivo, Jimmy Lieb, and Kevin
Lieb raised more money for the Socorro School than anybody
in their grade level. Jack Hershorn, Alex Hageman, Hannah
Barry, and Ian Barry all finished amoung the top five
fundraisers in their grade level. Next year, Northridge
member Tina Hageman will take over PTA leadership of this
project for White Rock Elementary.
When you see White Rock
Elementary students Jack Hershorn, Will Ash, Madeleine Ash,
Reina Olivo, Hiram Olivo, Gabe Olivo, Jimmy Leib, Kevin Leib,
Alex Hageman, Hannah Barry or Ian Barry, please thank them
for making this world a better place to live.
